Paid Time Off

Watts provides generous PTO that can be taken for any reason, including vacation, personal or family illness, doctor appointments, religious observance, school, volunteerism and other activities.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

The PTO policy applies to non-union employees in the U.S., including full-time, part-time, direct-paid temporary or project employees, and interns.

Full-time employees and part-time employees who work more than 20 hours per workweek are eligible for PTO and Flex PTO. Part-time (work less than 20 hours per workweek), temporary, or project employees paid directly by Watts, and interns, will only be eligible for Flex PTO.

Using PTO

All PTO is subject to business needs and manager approval. You should use your PTO in the calendar year in which it accrues. If you’re a non-exempt employee, you may carry over up to 40 hours of unused PTO to the next calendar year. Exempt employees can’t carry over unused, accrued PTO.

PTO accrues over the calendar year each pay period. You can borrow against your annual PTO accrual before it’s accrued. Borrowed PTO is subject to repayment terms if you leave the company before the end of the calendar year, subject to restrictions under local or state law.

Subject to local and state laws, exempt employees can take PTO in one-half or full shift increments. Non-exempt employees can take PTO in one-hour increments, unless required under local or state laws.

Flex PTO

A portion of PTO accrual will be designated as Flexible PTO, or Flex PTO, and may be used for any absence from work. Flex PTO will be used to comply with any paid sick time and safe time (SST) laws that apply to employees in certain locations. If you’re in one of these locations, an SST poster will be visible at your place of employment.

Holidays

Watts observes ten holidays each year. All sites observe the same nine core holidays as listed below and one additional holiday that’s designated by site. Please contact your HR Partner to find out the additional holiday your site observes.

Core holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day
  • Day adjacent to Christmas Day

Note: Blauvelt, NY follows a slightly different holiday schedule. Please contact your HR Partner for information on that schedule.

In the event that a holiday falls on a weekend, the following rules will apply unless otherwise announced in advance:

  • If the holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be recognized on Friday.
  • If the holiday falls on Sunday, it will be recognized on Monday.

Non-exempt employees must work the day before and after a holiday in order to be paid for the holiday, unless excused by a supervisor.

If an employee works in a state with greater or different laws pertaining to holidays, Watts will comply with all requirements.
