Supplemental Programs

When a serious illness or accident occurs, the stress it causes is multifold. Not only are you concerned about your health — or the health of your family member — but you have an unexpected financial burden due to out-of-pocket medical costs plus potential loss of wages and additional household expenses. The supplemental programs provide you with a lump-sum payment to help ease that financial burden so you can focus on recovery.

Accident Insurance

Pays benefits for specific injuries and events resulting from a covered accident1 that occurs on or after your coverage effective date. This is a limited benefit policy — not health insurance — and does not satisfy the minimum essential coverage provision under the Affordable Care Act.

Your benefit amount depends on the type of injury and care received.

Other features include:

  • Guaranteed issue: No medical questions or tests are required for coverage.
  • Flexibility: You can use the benefit payments for any purpose you like.
  • Payroll deductions: Premiums are paid through convenient payroll deductions.
  • Portability: If you leave your current employer, you can take your coverage with you.

Examples of how Accident Insurance can help:

  • Home health care costs
  • Lost income due to lost time at work
  • Everyday expenses like utilities and groceries
