Supplemental Programs

Not only are you concerned about your health — or the health of your family member — but you have an unexpected financial burden due to out-of-pocket medical costs plus potential loss of wages and additional household expenses. The supplemental programs provide you with a lump-sum payment to help ease that financial burden so you can focus on recovery.
Accident Insurance
Pays benefits for specific injuries and events resulting from a covered accident1 that occurs on or after your coverage effective date. This is a limited benefit policy — not health insurance — and does not satisfy the minimum essential coverage provision under the Affordable Care Act.
Your benefit amount depends on the type of injury and care received.
Other features include:
- Guaranteed issue: No medical questions or tests are required for coverage.
- Flexibility: You can use the benefit payments for any purpose you like.
- Payroll deductions: Premiums are paid through convenient payroll deductions.
- Portability: If you leave your current employer, you can take your coverage with you.

Eligibility
- You
- Your spouse — under age 70. Coverage is available only if employee coverage is elected.
- Your children — to age 26. Coverage is available only if employee coverage is elected.
Coverage effective date
Employees who enrolled during Open Enrollment – Your coverage became effective on January 1, 2025, following your election. If elected, coverage for your spouse and/or children became effective on the same date.
New Hires in 2025 – Coverage becomes effective at 12:01 AM on the date you are eligible for coverage.
Critical Illness Insurance
Pays a lump-sum benefit if you’re diagnosed with a covered illness or condition1 on or after your coverage effective date. This is a limited benefit policy — not health insurance — and does not satisfy the minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
Features of Critical Illness Insurance include:
- Guaranteed Issue: No medical questions or tests required for coverage.
- Flexibility: Use the benefit payments for any purpose you like.
- Payroll deductions: Premiums paid through convenient payroll deductions.
- Portability: Take your coverage with you if you leave Watts.
